Have you lost the joy in your practice of medicine? Do you feel like life is happening to you? Are you showing up for your life because you have to and not because you want to? Great news! You can find happiness and meaning in your life again. It's available to you right now.
Perhaps the most powerful thing I have ever learned is that thoughts are optional. They feel true, they feel like facts, and they feel out of our control. But actually none of that is the case. Our brain offers us thoughts and we can take them or leave them. Developing an awareness around your thoughts can change your entire perspective and therefore your entire experience of your life.
Most of us spend a lot of time trying to change people and things around us. Maybe you’ve noticed - it doesn’t work! Yet we exhaust ourselves trying. When you recognize that no one and nothing has to change for you to find joy and peace in your life, you will wish you hadn't waited so long.
That’s not to say that we shouldn’t use our influence as physicians and leaders to try to improve the systems around us - we absolutely should. We can acknowledge that the healthcare system is broken, but we don't have to wait for someone or something to fix it to find happiness and meaning in our work and our lives.
I want to show you how you can take back the power you have given away to the world around you.
I want to show you how thinking with purpose can change your life.
